About this artwork
The small quaint town of Hakone is the last place where the artist stayed during her trip to Japan in the summer of 2023. Hakone is renowned for its hot baths and peaceful mountain views, including Mount Fuji. This circle was inspired by small black and white engravings the artist found in her hotel library. The engravings were describing the Bon Odori, a Japanese traditional dance performed by the souls when they are released from the body and rejoin…
Buddha heavens. The colors are meant to translate the harmony of floating souls, as the gravity of corporal existence has been lifted.
