Sketch for a large scale sculpture. 1/2 The sculpture looks to explore how data, news and visual information can be falsely presented or misdirected through hyper glamorisation and assumption. Devised from a combination of nineteenth century illusion techniques such as sleight of hand and suggestion. The custom-built distillery continually pumps a blue liquid pigment through a yellow faux leather glove, causing the glove to swell and appear to sweat…
pink pigment. Offering multiple viewpoints through the physical navigation of the space, this repetitive, absurd process is explored via an anthropomorphic dialogue between sweat, colour and visual trickery. Prompting the viewer to question and re-imagine the spaces between what we see through our digital technologies and what assume to be to true.
