About this artwork
The entertainment
This work explores the relationship between people and media. It was created using acrylic paints and incorporated old newspaper pages, which serve as a symbol for information and communication.
What distinguishes humans from other living beings is their insatiable curiosity for knowledge – the urge to gather, share, process, and store information. However, while some regions suffer from a lack of information, others are overflowing… with it. This information often contradicts itself, leaving people bewildered by a jumble of fake news and "alternative truths."
Information is power – and also a weapon. Today, wars are fought not only with weapons, but also with words and data. This entertainment reflects these tensions and invites us to reflect on the value and responsibility of information in our time.
A painter by passion, Anthony Agbovi communicates through the ethereal medium of art, informed by his deep cultural and societal roots. His technique meticulously utilizes acrylics on canvas, transforming thought-induced images into tangible interpretations. Each stroke exposes our social, political, and environmental challenges - a testimony of past, present, and anticipated futures.
