Not actually from Dartmoor, 'The Towpath', is grouped with the 'Dartmoor' series because of its artistic style and is actually a portrait of a stretch of towpath that can be seen throughout the UK. This is a study for a larger painting, so although it is painted in a slightly looser style than many others in the series, none the less, it is this very artistic treatment that helps to evoke the peace and serenity of a beautiful summers day in the English…
