About this artwork
This is a nude study of a female model with her back to the viewer.
The artist uses a large flat brush applying confident broad strokes complimenting warm and cool colours.
Whilst the work is impressionistic and figurative, there is also a strong element of abstraction allowing the viewer
to draw their own conclusions.

« I am inspired by beauty and the positive stories behind people's lives. My portraits strive to express the emotions behind people's eyes rather than creating a realistic rendering of the person. »
Anthony de Klerk is inspired by the people that he meets and interacts with, particularly African youths who have the ability to rise above challenging circumstances and conditions. The award-winning South African painter's first love was wildlife art, which he now finds himself returning to. In his creative process, De Klerk uses acrylic paints and gesso with palette knives and various scraping tools. In his larger portraits and nudes, he works with oils in a more traditional manner.
