About this artwork
In this painting I was trying out something that I had not done before. That is, using Yellow as the largest shape on the paper. Fearing that the colour would not stand out and be able to compete for attention with the two other colours. And also how dark should I make the background to make it stand out. Looking at this picture. The yellow is slightly receding into the background, whilst the eye is attracted to the two wide lines in the middle…
of the painting. All this gives the painting a slightly light, ephemeral feeling and makes for an interesting placement of shapes and colours. And a feeling of emptiness in the picture as a whole.
