About this artwork
The camels (salt pile) were made by bonding salt salt marshes protected by a waterproof varnish.
This work refers to the Italian immigrants working in the salt marshes at the end of the 19th century, and to the events of August 16th and 17th, 1893, in Aigues-Mortes, which led to the massacre of Italian workers of the Compagnie des Salins du Midi, by villagers and French workers.
