About this artwork
The moving matter, the magma, carries everything in a flow, the bodies of the characters, like the spectator. The vortex rotates counterclockwise and overflows the canvas. The spectator is not sucked into the canvas, it is the centrifugal movement of the canvas that fills his space. Prisoners of matter, the characters are unaware of their condition. They do not know and they do not act. They do not know they
do not act. Their movements are vain.… The characters are carried away or rather carried by the whirlwind, they feel good, are installed there; but they protect their sight because the light blinds them. Awareness would mean opening your eyes and looking at the risk of getting burned. To act, to be realized, would be to emerge from the whirlpool, to escape from that soft, heavy but fertile mud, which contains in itself the seeds of all rebirth.
