PSEN1 brings back to our fragility, that of our memory and therefore of our identity. PSEN1 is the name of a gene that, when altered, is a marker of Alzheimer's disease.
The blackened sticks affixed to the canvas represent a sequence translated in the form of a barcode. The disease calls into question even the strongest bonds, such as that of the mother and the child, and reaches the very identity of the person. The most intimate memories disappear,… in the manner of the face of this young child, the colors disappeared, the contours erased. Forgetting is then a drama of being, violent and suffered. But is voluntary amnesia by denial of memory also not a form of identity destruction?
