Today, our “engagement” seems to be reduced to the time we spend on social media, while the world continues to move—and often collapse—around us.
In the center, I painted a figure completely absorbed in her smartphone, almost hypnotized. Around her, a chaotic mass of faces, bodies, and situations tells the story of what's really happening: pain, loneliness, indifference.
The colors are vivid, seductive, but hide a deeper tension.
This work speaks… of emotional distance, of a connection that distances us from reality.
That character is all of us.

Antonio Cotecchia, aka Kotè, is an Italian artist who works at the intersection of painting, sound, and urban space.
