About this artwork
«None of you are felons!
Before your hook takes me,
let one of you come forward who hears me,
and then he advised himself to curl me up».
Everyone shouted: "Go Malacoda!"
(inf.XXI, 72-75)
Devil invented by Dante who inserts him among the "Malebranche", the troop of demons, as leader. In the context of comedy, an almost comic parenthesis.
Wormwood, as the malebranche claim, is their leader. His physical appearance is not described by any adjective.… Precisely this fact attracted my attention: the apparent simplicity with which to contaminate it with personal moods, with one's inner and I would even say physical experience. At that moment a painter's roller, given the periatritis that afflicted me, seemed to me a diabolical tool. Evil is trivial...
The work is made, like the others in the series, on 380 g canvas mounted on a 1.6 cm thick stretcher frame.

« Everything is worthy of attention, everything is "sacred", like the breath, the silence, but also the cries of human pain. »
Antonio De Nardis is a painter and draftsman based in Italy whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. He describes the only central theme marked in his works as being the "reality of things", filtered and shaped by the truth, as well as the reality of the countless states of consciousness and sensations. In essence, De Nardis' bold compositions portray reality as it does not appear.
