Tonight, in the infinitesimal light of the stars,
trees and flowers shed their cold scents.
I pass through it but none of them notice.
Sometimes I think while I sleep
maybe I look like them in the most perfect way -
with my thoughts gone to fog.
Lying down is more natural to me.
Then heaven and I are in open conversation,
and I'll be useful the day I lie down forever:
finally the trees will touch me, the flowers will have time for me. (Sylvia… Plath)
