About this artwork
Dawn at the Ganges, the timeless ghaats of the Eternal City Varanasi or Benaras. Done in hues of terracotta and pale blue, this painting of the historic city has given the artist an opportunity to showcase the widest range of art skills in a single canvas - from the softest of brush strokes of the Ganges to the bold spatula strokes of the historic structures, from the finest miniature brushes for the small shapes to broadest flat brushes for the… sky, from the figurative works to strong architectural perspective lines, and even within the figurative work - from the most detailed features of the stoic Sadhu's face to the collective shapes of crowd and figures far and near.
« Art transforms the mundane to the extraordinary. »
