About this artwork
"Missing" is a compelling figurative oil painting that demonstrates a mastery of color contrast and gestural texture. The central figure is rendered with a delicate, classical grace, juxtaposed against a highly dynamic, semi-abstract background that feels alive with movement.
The artwork relies on a sophisticated color story: the neutral, soft creams of the subject's gown and the subdued olive greens of the background are electrified by a thick,… heavily textured application of vibrant orange impasto. The visible palette knife work and confident, layered brushstrokes give the surface a rich tactile quality, accentuating the raw emotion of the portrait. This evocative, layered piece is an exceptional choice for collectors of modern impressionism and expressive figurative art.
