PGR refers to the votive paintings "For Grace Received" in thanksgiving for divine intervention. The number in the work's title refers to the day of the miracle and the pictorial-musical performance (every performance has something miraculous about it...).
Painting Electronic Soundscapes
I developed a painting music controller that allows you to follow the painting action with sound involvement.
The presentation took place in June 2017 in a… concert with an ensemble at the Pollini Auditorium in Padua https://vimeo.com/2213
In 2018 the controller was presented, with a scientific publication and concert, at the XXII CIM (Collections on Musical Informatics) in Udine (Conference Proceedings).
The work was selected at SIIDS 2020 (Sound, Image and Interaction Design Symposium 2020)
Hardware: Accelerometer on the brush, moisture sensors on the paper and colors. 3 piezos record sounds on the paper.
Arcangelo Di Donato uses painting, collage, electronic systems, audio-video performances, and electronic music, bringing with him a solid background in architecture, design, and illustration. His technique is abstract-geometric and synesthetic, fusing painting and sound to create visual and acoustic landscapes, often the result of interdisciplinary processes and integrated technologies. He investigates space, nature, and human complexity, conveying a sense of exploration and anticipation, where the work captures the stratification of time and the depth of experienced emotions.
