Deze foto komt uit de inmiddels beroemde serie Grachtenhuizen over de stadspaleizen van Amsterdam. De haast volmaakte ringen van de grachtengordel lijken als een gladjes uitgevoerd masterplan te zijn aangelegd. De vier ‘Cromhouthuizen’ zouden 150 jaar door verschillende leden van de rijke en invloedrijke familie Cromhout bewoond worden. Zij lieten in 1717-19 het interieur in de toen gangbare stijl van Lodewijk XIV veranderen. In de monumentale zaal… zijn in de vakken van het cassette-plafond door Jacob de Wit tien mythologische voorstellingen van Romeinse goden en de dierenriem geschilderd. De tuinkamers kregen stucplafonds van Ignatius van Logteren. Het monumentale ovale trappenhuis dateert uit begin 19de eeuw.
Arjan Bronkhorst is a Dutch photographer, based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. As a professional photographer he specializes in architecture and interior photography, and portraits. He also works on assignments in corporate photography. Amongst his clients are magazines, publishers and agencies. Arjan also likes to travel, photographing people and landscapes. He shot several travel stories for magazines. Arjan traveled many times to Spitsbergen / Svalbard, where he worked as a photography guide. Arjan worked on a self initiated project, photographing Amsterdam's 17th century canal houses. He captured the astonishing beauty of their interiors as well as their current residents.
