About this artwork
The Conquet estuary serves as a shelter for many small boats. The shallow depth causes most to run aground at low tide. Those with a V-shaped hull are often crutched to avoid lying down. The scene represents 25 fishing and pleasure boats, and on the right bank (north) the castle of Cosquies, the footbridge and a group of houses. The late hour and the clear sky give pink tones.
« What's the point of trying to reinvent images when those around us are so beautiful, and all we have to do is reproduce them as faithfully as possible. »
Arnaud Feuga is an artist based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally and in the United States. With a background as a marine biology researcher, naturally, his favorite themes relate to the sea. However, Feuga also creates distinctive and realistic figurative compositions which include portraits and cinema-inspired pieces. He paints exclusively using oils on canvas.
