About this artwork
The work of Art LIS BOA shows a mysterious figure that embodies the dualism of human existence. The wanderer, depicted in monochrome tones, stands between tradition and modernity, East and West. His expression of determination and melancholy reflects the search for harmony in a changing world. The depiction takes up the Daoist idea of change, in which yin and yang must coexist in balance.
The wanderer symbolizes the Daoist principle of “Wu Wei”… 无为 (non-action) – a life in harmony with the natural flow of the universe. A floating eye, as the “third eye” of insight, indicates inner enlightenment, while the red moon emphasizes the cyclical nature of life and transformation.
In the spirit of Confucianism, the Wanderer reflects the idea of self-cultivation 修身 – the continuous improvement of the self in the service of the community.
