In this work, I have captured the vulnerability of humanity through rough cement lines that form a face. The minimalist approach using natural pigments and organic materials emphasizes raw emotion and the power of simplicity. This piece brings an earthy, meditative energy into any space and invites you to reflect on the essence of existence. Lines & Faces is a powerful and contemporary wall object in which a head subtly emerges from the rough… surface. The face is constructed from horizontal lines in relief, giving the work a strong graphic yet sculptural character.
The base consists of papier-mâché, finished with thin layers of cement and pigmented paint. This layered structure creates a rich, tactile relief that appears both rugged and refined. The warm, natural tones—created by the use of loose pigments and paint—enhance the expression and give the artwork a unique, almost archaeological appearance.

Arthur Reuleaux, a Dutch self-taught artist, creates large wall objects, sculptures, bowls, and pots using wood, cement, papier-mâché, raw pigments, and paint. His technique fuses architectural minimalism with an emphasis on tactile, relief-rich surfaces that often highlight the rawness and imperfection of natural, weathered materials. He seeks to evoke stillness, inviting viewers to contemplate time, transience, and the honest beauty found in traces of life, conveying a quiet depth and emotional resonance in every piece.
