About this artwork
For me, this artwork describes the concept of ‘home’ because it resembles a kind of map or
structure of roads and rooms. The lines remind me of corridors, walls, and spaces that
together form a place where you live. Home is not always perfect or neat, and this is also reflected in
the rough and uneven texture. The artwork is not smooth, but has relief. I think that suits
home, because home also consists of memories, experiences, and emotions, both… good and not so
good.
Organic forms come to life on a rough, artisanally constructed surface. The base is crafted from papier-mâché, carefully built up, and subsequently finished with thin layers of cement. This creates a rich and tangible relief that gives the work depth and character.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Arthur Reuleaux, a Dutch self-taught artist, creates large wall objects, sculptures, bowls, and pots using wood, cement, papier-mâché, raw pigments, and paint. His technique fuses architectural minimalism with an emphasis on tactile, relief-rich surfaces that often highlight the rawness and imperfection of natural, weathered materials. He seeks to evoke stillness, inviting viewers to contemplate time, transience, and the honest beauty found in traces of life, conveying a quiet depth and emotional resonance in every piece.
