About this artwork
This painting is a version of the flag of the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement of Peru and belongs to the Utopias series. Series that thematizes the fall of the revolutions in Latin America; Today these emblems are tinged with nostalgia and the political symbols that they once represented are now kitsch representations of popular culture.

« Art does not change the world, but it does modify perceptions. »
Arturo Duclos is an experienced Chilean painter who has exhibited his work nationally as well as in the US. Inspired by pre-Hispanic archaeology, he explores historical and popular iconography through a restless, passionate approach. His works evoke the speed, multiplicity, and juxtapositions present in our visual culture, and express the crisis of language he observes in such a globalized world. Duclos primarily produces acrylic on fabric works that take the viewer on a journey into intriguing stories and thought-provoking mysteries.
