About this artwork
In Aguamarga, Almería, it was my last vacation. Two years ago. When I travel on vacation, I cannot sit still. I have a hard time resting or relaxing, I am hyperactive. This leads me to draw. For me drawing is a stress ... I have to make an ideal form emerge, an image that leaves me restless and happy at the same time. Something like polishing and polishing a gemstone by removing its crust. Difficult, come on.
A lunar landscape. Some westerns were… shot here, spaghetti and the occasional Hollywood. It is an exclusive land Almería. Another metaphysical place in Spain, where very sensitive people, writers, journalists, painters, and some extravagant tend to end up. For me this austerity is a delight. There is nothing left over there and the imagination is powerful in these lands, in places like this, ideas take off because nothing engulfs you and the sea becomes a table where you can rest your eyes and think.
« I wanted to be a pilot, but I ended up painting. Now I fly higher. »
Arturo Prins is an exciting Spanish artist whose style comes from a sensibility of play, discipline, freedom and rebellion, redoubled in a constant reinvention of himself. Thematically, Prins looks to delve into metaphysics, symbolism, esoteric cosmogony, while mixing in humor to soften the transcendent themes in his work. He also describes his work as being "nostalgic for the future, sometimes with a nod to the eclectic spiritualism between East and West."
