"The history of literature begins unexpectedly. The first author in the world to sign a text with her own name is a woman.
1,500 years before Homer, in Enheduanna, poet and priestess, he wrote a set of hymns whose echoes still resound in the psalms of the Bible. He signed them proudly. She was the daughter of King Sargon I of Acad, who united central and southern Mesopotamia into his great Empire, and aunt of the future king Naram Sim. When scholars… deciphered the fragments of her verses, lost for a thousand years and recovered on their own in the 20th century, they dubbed her the Shakespeare of Sumerian literature, impressed by her brilliant and complex writing. "What I have done, no one has done before," Enheduanna writes. The oldest astronomical notations also belong to him. Powerful and bold, she dared to participate in the hectic political struggle of her time, and for that she suffered the punishment of exile and homesickness."
