About this artwork
Like a psychedelic trippy, a lysergic acid, I owe this work to Matisse, and to Nice, to his Sun and strength. He had some reason to say that his light captivated him ... Here I stand with this work. I have come to Nice in the footsteps of Henri Matisse from Spain, a romantic movement, in search of a Nice that no longer exists, and with the purpose of seeking avant-garde and realizing it in my work under the light that Matisse considered the best… in the world . The light of Nice was his fire, and my work repeats that luminous, glowing, exciting contagion like its sea, but in my work under a metaphysical, erotic, and symbolic influence. It is not about imitating the French painter, but invoking his strength and stimulating "joie de vivre". The idea of making a series based on the strength, light and color of his work had been maturing for years and precisely in this 3-month confinement by the Coronavirus, I have found the ideal time to focus my forces on it. And so in this terrace of creation I have locked myself to create
