About this artwork
Water is the basis of all life. Water in its various forms is a central element in Esslinger's work. Acrylic painting works with a liquid material, which is why the representation of liquids or fluids is almost imperative. The Emerging series shows a swimmer in moving water.

Esslinger was at the beginning of her artistic career with textile, before she turned to painting. Her many travels and residency stays worldwide influence the cultural and sociopolitical issues that Esslinger deals with in her art. She also works with cardboard collages that critically question consumption.
