About this artwork
Under the impression of the forests burning worldwide, I unconsciously picked up the color orange. In view of the question of distribution, the ambivalence of civilization manifests itself. The Inflammable series relates to this ambivalence. Flammable can be read in the sense of dangerous, but also in the sense of enthusiastic. The picture shows a figure in a protective suit against indifferent scenery.

Esslinger was at the beginning of her artistic career with textile, before she turned to painting. Her many travels and residency stays worldwide influence the cultural and sociopolitical issues that Esslinger deals with in her art. She also works with cardboard collages that critically question consumption.
