This painting captures the quiet magic of a coastal evening, when sky and sea merge in soft acrylic colors. I wanted to convey the tranquility and, at the same time, the power of this moment. You can imagine that in a few minutes it will be so dark that the lighthouse in the distance will shine brightly.

Astrid Krömer works primarily with acrylic and mixed media on canvas and has extensive design training as well as over three decades of experience as an artist and illustrator. Her works combine representational landscape painting with atmospheric abstraction and are characterized by layered superimpositions, reduced color palettes, and an emphasis on light and spatial effects. With Nordic restraint and expressive surface treatment, she succeeds in capturing the essence of maritime landscapes and conveying a profound, moving tranquility and inner vastness.
