About this artwork
A memory of a walk, in the North of the Netherlands, where all is flat. Underneath this painting is a monument for the Indians. This was a series Astrid Oudheusden created after visiting the US for the first time. The paintings showed the souls of Indians, the natives who were slaughtered to create a new country. This painting carries the monument, invisible and gives the walk in the North depth. The painting was made with loads of paint.

Had she not become a painter, Astrid Oudheusden would have been a psychologist, as human interaction and human beings fascinate her to no end. The award-winning painter, who resides in the Netherlands, feels that there is no limit to what can be accomplished on canvas or paper. Oudheusden employs acrylics, gouache, watercolors, markers, charcoal, collage, and pencils - whatever material that allows her to make fluid movements when creating.
