About this artwork
This is a very unique piece by Astrid Oudheusden. Normally she throws away the canvasses she no longer desires to sell. This painting was painted on the reverse of a canvas depicting a childhood scene (the market place in her birth town with the family dog). The image urges us to take it easy, to relax once in a while. Creators need a lot of time to look at the clouds and they take this time. Before our world turned into an industrial one people…
had much more time to rest, reflect and take it easy. This painting tells us of the beauty of laziness, the wealth of boredom.
The painting is signed and dated on the back and through the stretchers one can see the market place with dog (which was painted with oil colours). The painting is extremely matte, something that is difficult to show on a picture.

Had she not become a painter, Astrid Oudheusden would have been a psychologist, as human interaction and human beings fascinate her to no end. The award-winning painter, who resides in the Netherlands, feels that there is no limit to what can be accomplished on canvas or paper. Oudheusden employs acrylics, gouache, watercolors, markers, charcoal, collage, and pencils - whatever material that allows her to make fluid movements when creating.
