The Primitives are two blocks of clay, cut exactly in half, to represent the woman and the man in perfect parity of mass. They are sculpted as if in deep reflection on their own nature.
“With the two pieces of clay placed on the table, I thought about representing femininity on one and masculinity on the… other. The idea of Adam and Eve guided my hand. The prominent foreheads immediately transported me back to prehistory. I symbolized the bodies to the extreme, hoping to reveal the clay loaf as still being there…”
