About this artwork
This portrait is inspired by Shadow Man, a legendary figure in New York street art from Franc Palaia. My artist studio and place of life was for a few years at Orchard Street in the lower east side of Manhattan, a very rich cultural place and place of residence and work of many street and graffiti artist New Yorkers. fist raised in front of the mouth is as much a gesture of defense as a stifled cry. The faded colors are reminiscent of lime paint and give it a wall look.
