About this artwork
Not with words,
but with color that refuses to stay still—
splashing, leaping, climbing the canvas
like wild notes escaping a cage.
Upward, upward.
Golden drips stretch like trumpet blasts,
black circles spin like cymbals struck too hard,
every fleck of pink and green and violet
a voice that has forgotten gravity.
Rise, rise.
Louder than silence,
brighter than any stage light.
This is a choir of pure motion
shouting: We are here.…
We are alive.
We will keep climbing
until the universe hums along.
Keep rising.
Never come down.
The song has only just begun.
In this explosive acrylic painting, vibrant multicolored splatters cascade across the canvas, while bold golden drips surge downward like triumphant brass notes and black circled forms whirl like percussive accents. The relentless upward energy and rhythmic chaos transform visual noise into an audible symphony of defiant life.
AYA MARRAY
Japan
●Reconstructing the World Through Color●
AYA MARRAY, born in Shimane, Japan, now based in Antalya, Turkey, facing the Mediterranean. She overlays Japan’s primordial memories onto Turkey’s vast nature and ancient histories.
With multilayered acrylics, she captures the Earth’s pulse, animal vitality, human prayers, and the clash of order and chaos, reconstructing the world through visual logic. Her 2020 relocation was a strategic act to “nullify borders.”
In 2021 she founded the New York–originated art unit AYA-MARC. In 2024 she joined JWAA (Japan Women Artists Association). Since 2023 she has held acclaimed solo exhibitions across Turkey.
In 2026 she will exhibit at the Grenada Pavilion of the 60th Venice Biennale, using color as a diplomatic strategy to make invisible boundaries visible and nurture solidarity across nations, cultures, and species. This ceaseless reconfiguration of the world through color is her lifelong mission.
