Everywhere the same questions arise, everywhere the same worlds collide: the security of the past versus the naked fear for the future. Progressive forces against clinging to yesterday and against the slide to the right. The question, "What kind of world do we want to live in?" is being pushed aside by the question, "Who is right?"

Bärbel Thürer is a painter, draftsman, and printmaker with extensive training at the Freiburg Academy of Fine Arts, supplemented by courses in Leipzig. She experimentally works in large and small formats on canvas, wood, and paper, utilizing collage, printmaking techniques, and layered surfaces of color and form for abstraction. Her works convey intense, multifaceted emotions and make invisible inner states visible—they invite the viewer to explore the unknown without fear.
