About this artwork
This work, produced after a trip to Rome, refers to the fresco in the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo and borrows from him some tormented characters. It is part of a series of large formats painted after the events of September 11, 2001, in New York.

Béatrice Bescond is an award-winning painter and designer, based in France, whose work has been exhibited nationally, as well as in Japan, the United States, Belgium, Sweden, South Korea, Germany, in Austria, Czechia and Lebanon. His works question founding myths and archetypal figures in joint processes of figuration and disfigurement, appearance and disappearance, presence and absence. From 1988 to 1998, the Galerie du Center regularly presented its work in Paris as well as at international fairs. In 2011, she participated in a Paris-Texas cultural exchange and then in 2016, she was invited as an artist in residence at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei. In 2018, she presented the exhibition “In the presence of trees” at the Museum of Fine Arts in Vannes. His works are present in various public and private collections (FNAC, FDAC, Musée des Beaux Arts de Vannes, KdMoFA in Taipei, Colas Foundation, etc.).
