About this artwork
This painting is to draw attention to the fact that we line the shores of the ocean and wait for freighters to bring us containers of goods to consume without understanding the implications of what the pollution from the freighters has on ocean health. Freighters are not regulated so they are able to burn bunker fuel and pollute more than all the cars on the planet and yet no one talks about this issue or solves the problem. Together we can change…
this if we vote with our dollars.

« My quest is to create artwork that is beautiful, but more importantly, causes the viewer to consider the conceptual issue addressed in the painting. »
Barb Pearson places importance on expressing aspects that she finds troubling about society through her artworks. The Canadian artist addresses the addiction to social media and its effect on the individual and brings awareness to the negative consequences of our consumption on the environment. As an experimental painter, she creates in a fluid and unpredictable manner. Pearson begins each piece by collating recycled materials, then deconstructs these layers with a power sander.
