About this artwork
This piece reflects on environmental concerns and addresses human's relationship to the natural world. We have come to see our planet as a mine to extract the resources we need to maintain our extravagant life-styles, and as a dumping station for our toxic waste products. The earth continues to exude it's natural beauty but there comes the day when we will have gone too far and there is no turning back. This painting aims to bring awareness to…
the fragility of our planet and ask that we take more care in how we treat her.

« My quest is to create artwork that is beautiful, but more importantly, causes the viewer to consider the conceptual issue addressed in the painting. »
Barb Pearson places importance on expressing aspects that she finds troubling about society through her artworks. The Canadian artist addresses the addiction to social media and its effect on the individual and brings awareness to the negative consequences of our consumption on the environment. As an experimental painter, she creates in a fluid and unpredictable manner. Pearson begins each piece by collating recycled materials, then deconstructs these layers with a power sander.
