About this artwork
It is a whole story about meeting the elemental force, air, water, island, volcano.
I was living some time on one of the 7000 islands in the Philippines. Down South in the Visayan Sea. From my studio window I could observe every day the nearby volcano Hibok Hibok. So I chose the colors of the eventual eruption, the red Magma was omnipresent in my mind. This must be a wonderful spectacle.
As I mixed some sand in the colors, you have a nice relief… in certain places, gives an interesting touch to the canvas, makes it more alive.
In this painting, I've melded vibrant layers of oil and textures of sand to capture a tempestuous yet serene landscape. The marriage of bold reds and soothing greens elicits the intense energy of nature's ever-changing spectacle. The dynamic strokes and palpable depth are expressions of passion, designed to bring a room to life and provoke contemplation about the elemental forces that surround us.
« My works are philosophical and precious. You sink into them; feel the force of nature and the author’s energy. »
