About this artwork
In creating this artwork, I channeled the interplay of memory and imagination. The collage elements evoke a vintage nostalgia, while the expressive strokes of acrylic, wax, and pastel merge into an abstract dance, hinting at untold stories. Graphite lines suggest structure amidst chaos, reflecting life's complex beauty. It's a piece imbued with emotion and texture, designed to stir the soul and bring a dynamic, thought-provoking presence to any space.

« The layers are everything, they create history, tell the story, reveal direction shifts and risks taken. I know that what’s underneath is as important as what’s immediately visible. »
Barbara Reade is an experienced artist based in Canada whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally. Through her distinctive abstract works, she expresses what she feels, not what she sees. For Reade, memories and experiences (both past and present) are integral to her artistic practice. She primarily creates using mixed media, acrylics, wax pastels, graphite, and collage, employing monotypes and image transfers.
