About this artwork
I was inspired to create LIBRE by Vincent van Gogh's paintings, in which circling birds play a role. The scene depicted is an impression of the wild sea. Is it night or a stormy daytime sea? You can literally hear the seagulls screeching! The painting was created in layers using acrylic on unstretched canvas and has a slight tactile quality in some areas.
The work comes rolled. The dimensions (approx. 135cm x 95cm) refer to the depicted motif. Not… visible are the white borders required for stretching the canvas (the additional photo in the studio shows the border). Framing is also possible, e.g., in a simple floater frame or perhaps in an impressionist frame.

Barbara Schauß is an established German painter whose works have been exhibited in regional and national exhibitions. Her love for art began as a child when she discovered her father's books of world famous paintings. Inspired by the Impressionist movement, Schauß was greatly moved to paint after seeing Monet's "Fields in Spring" and famous lily pads. She also experiments in abstract painting, working in both oils and acrylics. Schauß is compelled by colors and aims to represent an overall atmosphere, whether harmonious or discordant, through her work.
