About this artwork
In my work, I've blended realism with touches of expressionism, capturing the complexity of emotions. I've poured my soul into the oil medium, creating a layered narrative through the figures. The gaze holds a powerful serenity while the juxtaposition of elements invites contemplation. It's a conversation on perception and identity, meant to resonate deeply and add a profound, thought-provoking presence to any room.

« The violent urge to follow beauty ideals is the disease of our era. »
The bold, arresting pieces by Hungarian artist Barbara Sipos demonstrate the struggle of pursuing artificial beauty ideals created by consumer culture. The artworks, which are created through the medium of oil on canvas, show the artist's attempt to paint a mirror to society and make people think about other people. By changing facial details to distorted proportions on her models, Sipos creates a distorted mirror which reflects the grotesque side of the quest for perfection.
