About this artwork
In this piece, I've melded surrealism with impressionistic touches, exploring the fluidity of identity and perception. The oil medium allowed me to layer emotions, creating a dreamlike visage that blurs the lines between the familiar and the unknown. It's a visual poem, meant to provoke thought and stir the soul, infusing your space with an enigmatic energy that sparks conversation and introspection.

« The violent urge to follow beauty ideals is the disease of our era. »
The bold, arresting pieces by Hungarian artist Barbara Sipos demonstrate the struggle of pursuing artificial beauty ideals created by consumer culture. The artworks, which are created through the medium of oil on canvas, show the artist's attempt to paint a mirror to society and make people think about other people. By changing facial details to distorted proportions on her models, Sipos creates a distorted mirror which reflects the grotesque side of the quest for perfection.
