Barend van Hoek is a prize-winning artist from the Netherlands whose works have been extensively exhibited nationally, as well as in Belgium. The painter, draftsman, and sculptor mainly depicts women and their environments, because, to him, they embody all of the mysteries in life. Van Hoek describes himself as being obsessed with light and "how it gives volume to things", as he feels that it is essential for a composition's accessibility and credibility.
