About this artwork
The artworks by Maria Van Oosterwick, Rachel Ruysh, and Artemisia Gentileschi were my inspiration and springboard. Their art practice was amazing, but they were not such famous artists as their male colleagues at that time. These women were relatives of male artists and, according to new art historian researches, did not only professionally help their male relatives, but also these women did the entire work and just signed some works by the names… of their husbands or fathers. I wanted to reflect on the topic of how they would work in the contemporary art world, which topics they would be interested in, or which materials they would use
Baroque Anarchist, trained in both the theatrical and fine art traditions of Russia and the UK, works across painting, installation, costume, and stage environments. She fuses Baroque mastery and old-world oil techniques with contemporary materials, creating immersive spaces where sculpture, bioengineering, and visual symbolism coalesce. Her art radiates transformative energy, exploring the alchemy of flesh, myth, and technology—awakening viewers to the beauty and vulnerability of bodies entangled in ever-shifting material and symbolic worlds.
