Basia is a Polish-born artist living in Germany. She works with high-quality oil paints, combining graphic elements with glazing techniques. Her small-format, figurative-abstract paintings unite childlike exploratory joy with a unique beauty. Constantly influenced by history and media, she condenses her imagination in the creative process and works freely without concrete models. The resulting figures oscillate between naive folk art and classical depictions of melancholy. The sincerity of Basia's surreal figures invites contemplation of the becoming and non-becoming of identity. Basia studied Fine Arts at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HfG).
