Bastine uses acrylic, oil, collage, and encaustic, drawing on a background in which creative instinct took precedence over her previous professional life. She wields art brut in a bold blend of contemporary techniques and vintage papers, with spontaneous gestures and an omnipresent poetry. Her works, populated by singular creatures, express the raw force of intimacy, the fascination for the strange, and a vibrant assertion, inviting the viewer to explore the human soul and its shadowy areas.
