About this artwork
In this work I start from the image of the Virgin with the Child Jesus, not as a literal religious representation, but as a universal symbol of love, protection and hope.
The blues and purples create a deep, enveloping space, while flesh tones appear between the layers as barely recognizable presences. They are lights that suggest the faces of the mother and child, emerging and disappearing at the same time, like a memory that remains even as the… image fades.
The artwork is constructed through the layering of fabrics, evoking the Virgin's mantle and creating a sense of refuge and contemplation. The layers conceal and reveal fragments, creating an image suspended between the visible and the hidden.
Among the blues, purples, and warm tones of flesh emerges an essential image of love and hope, like a presence that, even hidden among the layers, remains.

Beatriz Zerolo is a painter with a solid background in drawing and painting, complemented by her legal experience. Her work fuses classical techniques, such as glazing, with an expressionist approach, oscillating between the abstract and the figurative, defining herself primarily as a contemporary abstract painter of sacred art. Her paintings, constructed in layers and often enriched with impasto, explore discomfort, invisible wounds, and mechanisms of concealment, seeking to stir and provoke a profound emotional honesty in the viewer.
