About this artwork
"Greetings from Berlín" es una de las piezas de la serie Ephemeral Essence.
It is inspired by Matisse's studies. I love how he captured the essence of form through his simplified forms. I am inspired by his ability to reduce shapes to their most basic elements, their bold silhouettes, creating harmonious and balanced compositions.

« I explore the essence of art and am intrigued by the "why" of works that last over time, as well as the why of those that fall into oblivion. »
Begoña Lafuente is a painter and illustrator based in the Netherlands whose works have been widely exhibited internationally, as well as in Spain. For her, art is a timeless conversation where not everything is said and "the essential is diluted." Lafuente describes her works as a game of combinations that combines materials, textures and colors, improvising new routes for the senses. In addition, she integrates movement and contrast in her compositions to cultivate visual and emotional tension.
