About this artwork
"Looking back" is a portrait of the essence of childhood. I have sought to convey curiosity and the seemingly inexhaustible capacity for wonder and discovery. With each new look, new stories emerge in your inner world. It is very gratifying when they make you feel complicit in that world.
This work, part of my "Diaries of the Ephemeral" series, is inspired by Matisse's aesthetics. I love how he captured the essence of the form through his simplified… shapes. I am inspired by his ability to reduce shapes to their most basic elements, their bold silhouettes, creating harmonious and balanced compositions.
About the material:
Material: Fine Art Print on aluminum dibond:
Arches Aquarelle Rag (310 g/m2 - Whiteness 83.1%, Density 1.65. Deep matte. Lots of relief - 100% ragging) mounted on Aluminum Dibond panel. It has a system for mounting on the wall.
• the paper surface is not sealed. .Treat the surface with the utmost care.

« I explore the essence of art and am intrigued by the "why" of works that last over time, as well as the why of those that fall into oblivion. »
Begoña Lafuente is a painter and illustrator based in the Netherlands whose works have been widely exhibited internationally, as well as in Spain. For her, art is a timeless conversation where not everything is said and "the essential is diluted." Lafuente describes her works as a game of combinations that combines materials, textures and colors, improvising new routes for the senses. In addition, she integrates movement and contrast in her compositions to cultivate visual and emotional tension.
