About this artwork
This is a series that I started by investigating the images that we all grew up with and that are part of our collective memory. I was inspired by the famous work by Velázquez "Las Meninas" which is in the Prado Museum.
I started a series called People of Other Times. It is a fun and provocative series in some cases. I created them in pairs as a dialogue between the works themselves: Each proposal matched a response work.
It is a limited edition… of 20 in Giclée on Hahnemühle William Turner paper. Matte watercolor paper texture, natural white (310 g / m²)
• Image size 30 x 45 cm approx Total size 40 x 60 cm approx. (The image has a white border of 5-7.5)

« I explore the essence of art and am intrigued by the "why" of works that last over time, as well as the why of those that fall into oblivion. »
Begoña Lafuente is a painter and illustrator based in the Netherlands whose works have been widely exhibited internationally, as well as in Spain. For her, art is a timeless conversation where not everything is said and "the essential is diluted." Lafuente describes her works as a game of combinations that combines materials, textures and colors, improvising new routes for the senses. In addition, she integrates movement and contrast in her compositions to cultivate visual and emotional tension.
