About this artwork
Title: PRINCE ON YELLOW HORSE
Technique: Digital art, printing on canvas
Dimensions: 45X30
Edition: 5 numbered and signed units
Inspired by Diego Velázquez's iconic portrait of Prince Baltasar Carlos on horseback, this work reinterprets the majesty of the original with a contemporary language. Through vibrant urban colors and textures, the prince is transformed into an almost ethereal figure, highlighted by the interaction between the background… graphics and the powerful silhouette in the foreground.
The contrast between the classic and the modern generates a reflection on the passage of time and the revaluation of our artistic heritage in the context of today's visual culture. This digital work, captured in a high-quality print on canvas, celebrates the union between tradition and avant-garde, capturing the attention of both lovers of classical art and those seeking a more experimental aesthetic.

« I explore the essence of art and am intrigued by the "why" of works that last over time, as well as the why of those that fall into oblivion. »
Begoña Lafuente is a painter and illustrator based in the Netherlands whose works have been widely exhibited internationally, as well as in Spain. For her, art is a timeless conversation where not everything is said and "the essential is diluted." Lafuente describes her works as a game of combinations that combines materials, textures and colors, improvising new routes for the senses. In addition, she integrates movement and contrast in her compositions to cultivate visual and emotional tension.
